Welcome

Welcome to the Physical Therapy Program in the Arnold School of Public Health’s Department of Exercise Science! This site is designed to provide information to both students currently enrolled in the program and those considering applying to the program. If you have questions not answered here, please feel free to contact us.

Gamecock DPT prepares top-tier physical therapists through an individualized, high-quality, and high-value clinical program that’s rooted in exceptional, evidence-based client care. We pride ourselves on offering highly personalized education through the individualized faculty mentorship and classroom experience that students in our program receive. You’ll find program-distinctive personalized access to resources and clinical placements that only we can offer through our individualized and highly connected program.

Gamecock DPT is based at a Carnegie 1 research institution offering the highest level of research activity at a doctoral university, meaning we are an evidence-based program taught by faculty who are active researchers in physical therapy who develop and teach new insights in the field. You’ll work closely with faculty to prepare you for real-world competency and make positive contributions to physical therapy. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn complementary teaching skills through unique instructional opportunities at USC, a perk not offered in other DPT programs.

You’ll also find that Gamecock DPT stands out from other DPT programs through our offerings of integrated clinical placements that teach our students clinical skills as they progress through our program, not at the end of the program. You’ll learn classroom knowledge alongside developing your skills as a clinician throughout the three years of the program.

The success of our students reflects our program quality: our graduates have consistently scored above average on the licensure exam and have a reputation of success and being leaders in the profession.

Gamecock DPT students also enjoy their time in Columbia, South Carolina. Our high-value program provides affordable tuition in comparison to competitor DPT programs. With our 217 sunny day average in a low cost-of-living state affords students the opportunity to enjoy all that a Southern thriving capital city has to offer with additional access to both coast and mountains in as little as 1.5 hours!

Please watch our presentation to learn more information about our exceptional program. I hope that you will consider the University of South Carolina in your future.
