Drs. Qi Wang (PI, Department of Mathematics), Sophya Garashchuk (Department of Chemistry), Chuanbing Tang (Department of Chemistry), and William Mustain (Department of Chemical Engineering) received a $600,000 DOE grant (2024-2026) for "AI-enabled Investigation of Mechanisms for Multiscale Ion Transport in Polymer Electrolytes as Anion-Exchange Membranes." The project combines data science, machine learning, and multiscale modeling with experiments to study ion transport in copolymer-based electrolyte membranes. It aims to develop advanced copolymer membranes, enhance understanding of transport in heterogeneous materials, and expand tools for rational electrode material design through optimizing morphology/property relationships.
