Problem of the Month

The Problem of the Month contest, which starts at the beginning of the academic year and runs through April, presents a new mathematics problem at the beginning of each month. The Problem of the Month bulletin board, which is located in the hallway near LeConte 101, posts the problems statements along with further details about the contest.

Once you solve the month's problem, just email your solution to or drop it off to Dr. Scott Dunn's mailbox in the Mathematics Department Office in LeConte 411. Solutions will be graded primarily on accuracy and clarity, with the monthly winner receiving a certificate. All who correctly solve the problem will receive recognition on the Problem of the Month bulletin board. The overall best problem-solver for the year will be invited to participate in the US National Collegiate Mathematics Championship during MathFest.
