Michael holds a B.A. in English/Special Honors Curriculum from CUNY-Hunter College, where he was a member of the interdisciplinary Thomas Hunter Honors Program. He also has an M.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin and recently completed an Ed.M. in Learning and Teaching at Harvard University. 

Prior to joining SCHC, Michael taught at the university and high school level. Most recently, he taught IB English and Philosophy and coordinated the extended essay at Westwood High School in Austin, TX. While completing his coursework at Harvard, he was a Research Assistant for the Justice in Schools program and facilitated courses for the Instructional Leadership Certificate. He is thrilled to continue his career at USC and looks forward to leading the 390 course and working with the fabulous students and staff at the Honors College.  

Outside of his professional endeavors, Michael loves spending time with his wife, Michelle (a fellow Gamecock), and their two rowdy and bookish boys. He also enjoys reading, writing, and weighing the relative merits of Texas vs. Carolina BBQ.
