Our program exemplifies the hospitality Gamecocks are known for, so when we say we’re your home base on campus, we mean it! Scholars who meet during their interview weekends often choose to become roommates in the Honors Residence Hall for their first year—and sometimes stick together for all four. You’ll bond with your First-Year Scholar class during a series of early-fall programs (including our annual ropes course retreat!) and get connected with upperlevel students through our Scholar Big and Peer Leader programs.
Our goal is to create a unified community of Top Scholars representing all five of our top scholarship cohorts, and that’s where our student organization Scholars United plays a big role. As a Top Scholar, you’ll automatically become a member of this organization and gain access to social, service and professional development events run by your peers throughout the year. You’ll find your place and have a blast at Scholars United events like the winter formal dance and the spring picnic (which includes an epic in-state vs out-of-state scholars kickball game).
The scholar community remains strong long after graduation. Many alumni not only stay friends for life but also are eager to help current scholars along their way.
