Sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Support to Promote Advancement of Research and Creativity (SPARC) Graduate Research Grant is a merit-based award designed to ignite research and creative excellence across all disciplines at USC. Each academic year, SPARC funds the most competitive applications for research, creative or other meritorious scholarly projects, providing up to $5,000 to each successful graduate student applicant. Among the 2023-2024 SPARC recipients are 25 graduate students from 17 academic departments, including our graduate student Yuwei Geng. Her project, titled "Operator Learning for Phase Field Models and Simulations", aims to develop deep-learning-based methods to efficiently and accurately simulate phase field models.
