CON Insider internal newsletter and college calendar: Jessica McCormick

  • The CON Insider is sent on Friday mornings to share employee accomplishments, relay college and university information, and the college calendar.

  • The college’s Office of Research sends a comprehensive newsletter of opportunities available for research faculty.

Office Supplies

We keep all the basics on hand. Please let your respective administrative coordinator know if you need paper, pens, folders, notepads, batteries, binders, toner, post-its or similar frequently used items. 

Special Requests office supplies such as Rolodex, Dymo label maker, USC/CON letterhead, USC/CON folders, USC/CON envelopes, and business cards can be ordered as needed. Special Orders may require department funding and account number.

Safety

Building Emergency Action Plan 

In collaboration with the university’s Department of Environmental Health and Safety and Division of Law Enforcement and Safety, the college has developed a Building Emergency Action Plan (BEAP). The BEAP outlines information and procedures for various emergency situations and includes evacuation maps specifically for the Williams-Brice Building.

Report an Issue

If you notice anything suspicious, report it promptly to USC PD at 803-777-4215 (or 911) and then contact the Dean's Office. 

Carolina Alert

Students, faculty and staff should register to receive Carolina Alerts for up-to-the-moment campus safety news. 

RAVE App

RAVE is a mobile app that turns any cell phone into a personalized protection network. It connects you directly with USC Police during an emergency and provides important information instantly.

ADA and Gender-Neutral Restrooms

The college has two ADA and Gender-Neutral Restrooms in the building. They are located on the 2nd and the 5th floor.

The college has Student Study Rooms for Gamecock Nursing Students. The room at WMBB is 423. The rooms at the CEB are 103 - 106.

Parking

The university handles everything related to vehicles on the Columbia campus — from purchasing a parking permit to maintaining the parking garages and lots on campus. Let Parking Services answer your questions and help you understand their regulations and policies.

The college has two reserved parking spaces in the Pendleton Parking Garage. To reserve a space, please contact the Dean’s Ssuite with the date(s)/time(s) needed.

To obtain a visitor parking pass for “B” Lot, contact the Operations Coordinator. There is an $8.00 charge associated with this pass. Be aware that the visitor pass does not guarantee a parking space in “B” Lot. 

To reserve parking in “B” Lot for guests, contact the administrative support for your respective supervisor. There is a $25 setup fee and $10/space per-day charge associated with this pass. Prior approval must be received from your respective supervisor. This permit guarantees a parking space in “B” Lot.  

If your department is hosting a special event, submit a request for guest parking at least one week in advance. 

Human Resources

Hiring - To fill a position such as a GA, TA, Postdoc or research assistant, email Becki Dangerfield, HR Director. 

CON Staff Telecommuting Procedure - HR 1.22 is the university’s telecommuting policy. College of Nursing staff are eligible to telecommute after (3) months of employment at the college.

Faculty Incentives

The College of Nursing recognizes and honors its outstanding faculty who have dedicated time and energy to teaching, service, research/scholarship, and practice. The Faculty/Staff Handbook, Section IX.5 Faculty Incentives, describes the different incentives available to our faculty. 

  • Dean’s Excellence Awards are incentives for faculty members displaying excellence in teaching, research/scholarship, and service.
  • Grant Salary Adjustment is a provision for non-base salary adjustments for external grant funding when a USC Nursing faculty is the principal investigator. 
  • Incentive for Faculty Recruitment is a one-time payment for an employee who recruited a new faculty hire. 
  • Faculty Practice Plan. Faculty practicing 8 hours/week or more through the Faculty Practice plan will receive $1,500 incentive funds annually.
Training and Professional Development

The Office of Organizational and Professional Development (OPD) develops and delivers training and professional development programs and provides consultative services to improve individual, team, and organizational effectiveness and achieve university goals.

Employment and Verification Process

Students, faculty and staff can now use Experian Verify for accurate employment and income verification. Experian Verify provides secure employment and/or income information to credentialed verifiers (mortgage companies, lenders, pre-employment screeners, etc.) on behalf of the university.

Campus Recreation provides safe, accessible recreation services, programs and facilities to the greater university community. We strive to create experiences that facilitate healthy habits, leadership opportunities and campus involvement.

Carolina Cares Cupboard (CCC)

    • It is important to feel comfortable speaking up about workplace concerns. If you have an escalated issue through your immediate chain of command, or if you feel that it is not an option to do so, employees are encouraged to use the University Integrity Line. It is administered by an independent third-party provider, which allows you to report questionable or unethical behavior anonymously.
