Prior to her role in the Honors College, Ryan spent five years founding and growing a creative small business: designing products and branding, implementing strategic marketing and communications, leading staff and managing social media and web design. Previously she spent over a decade in political communications in the United States Senate and working on presidential and senate campaigns.

Ryan grew up in the upstate of South Carolina (which she credits for her strong Southern accent and love of the mountains) and graduated from Clemson University’s Honors College with a bachelor’s degree in political science. She currently serves on the board of Pet Partners of the Midlands and fosters for several animal rescues. Ryan's passions include food, art, reading, travel and her (many) dogs. The Honors therapy dogs - George, Louie and Wally - are part of her family and are all very good boys (most of the time).
