Open enrollment is October 1 – 31

It's time to choose!

The annual open enrollment period for choosing your 2018 health benefits is October 1 – October 31, 2017.

Each fall the university conducts its open enrollment period, giving you the opportunity to review your benefit elections to ensure they continue to meet the needs of you and your family.

With several changes for 2018, you are encouraged to log in and review your benefit plan options. You may use the following tools to assist you with making your choices.

South Carolina Public Employee Benefits Authority’s (PEBA) website provides all the information you need to know about open enrollment.

The 2018 Insurance Benefits Guide (IBG) [pdf] gives you an in-depth look at all insurance benefits. Check your campus mailbox for a paper copy of this publication.

The open enrollment checklist [pdf] is a helpful tool to navigate through enrollment.

PEBA’s short video provides more information about your benefits.

Active employee premiums chart for 2018 [pdf].

PEBA's chart [pdf]  provides a quick visual representation of the comparison between each health plan.

The Medicare Handbook [pdf] is for all Medicare eligible employees.

If you are the former spouse of an employee or a retiree with State Health Plan coverage and are covered as a dependent on the employee or retiree’s policy, your coverage as a dependent will end December 31, 2017. You will need to enroll in your own coverage as a former spouse to continue coverage past December 31, 2017. Read this notice for former spouses [pdf] for more information.

Where do I review or change my 2018 benefits?

Coverage changes may be made online using MyBenefits from October 1, 2017 until October 31, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. Deductions to your coverage will be effective January 1, 2018 and will be reflected in your December 15, 2017 paycheck. MoneyPlus changes will be reflected in your January 15, 2018 paycheck.

If you wish to make open enrollment changes and also need to change your beneficiary or address, please make the beneficiary or address change prior to making your open enrollment changes. If you do not wish to make open enrollment changes, but need to make a beneficiary or address change, please proceed to make the change online via the MyBenefits system.

Follow the instructions listed on PEBA’s step by step guide [pdf] to learn how to register for MyBenefits.
