Honors Orientation and Course Registration
As an Honors College Student, you have priority registration for Fall 2019 courses over other incoming freshmen. Honors College advising and course registration is conducted by phone for incoming freshmen in early summer. Find out more.
The Honors Peer Mentorship Program provides peer-led guidance and support for incoming Honors students as they navigate life at the University of South Carolina. Participating in this program is voluntary and if you choose to do so, you will be assigned to a mentorship group led by an upper-level Honors student. Through one-on-one and group meetings, Peer Mentors serve as a knowledgeable guide, a thoughtful facilitator who provides access to campus resources, a role model and advocate. The first-year transition to college is a big step; with a SCHC Peer Mentor, you will make important social and academic connections that ease the adjustment to college life.
Next Steps? Fill out the Mentee Application/ Participation Agreement. Freshmen will be notified by August 10th with their mentor contact information. Any questions, contact Janai Hawkins-Glenn at firstname.lastname@example.org
Freshman Flotilla is a time-honored tradition for the Honors College and our incoming freshmen! We're excited to celebrate seven years of floating down the Congaree River for a morning or afternoon of fun and relaxation.
Flotilla is an opportunity to meet and get to know each other and also learn more about the Columbia area, the river and the city. Students who participate in Flotilla sign up for a morning or afternoon trip to kayak down the Congaree River. Transportation is provided by the Honors College. Learn more here.
Our Honors Convocation program officially welcomes you to the Honors College family and is only for Honors College students. You will hear from current students, meet our staff and others who teach honors courses and have a chance to spend time with your peers. Learn more here.
