The Graduate School is excited to announce the opening of student registration for its annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition. This unique event offers graduate students a platform to showcase their research in a succinct, engaging three-minute speech tailored for a non-specialist audience. The competition is open to all current University of South Carolina graduate students in any program.
Contrary to its name, the competition isn't limited to thesis or dissertation related presentations. Participants have the freedom to present any original research they've conducted during their time as a graduate student at USC. The competition not only offers students a chance to hone their presentation skills but also provides a valuable opportunity to communicate the significance of their research to a broader audience.
The Fall 2024 competition will take place on Friday, November 8 in the Close-Hipp Building. Registration is open as of September 23, 2024. Registration slots are limited due to space constraints. Students are encouraged to register as early as possible and participant selection will operate on a first-come first-served basis. Selected students will be invited to present in the preliminary round from 10 -11:30 a.m. on November 8. Participants who progress from this round will compete in the finals from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
