Political Campaigns

Page administrators of university-affiliated accounts should not post or repost content of a political organization, leader or representative, or appear to offer endorsements of such.

University Social Media Accounts

The University of South Carolina is a nonprofit entity. Due to the designation, there are prohibitions against using university resources to support individual candidates or parties in a political campaign, or their legislative actions. Because of this, university-affiliated accounts should not post or repost content of a political organization, leader or representative, as such a post could be perceived as an endorsement.

Social media caution.

Posting of or about a political leader is only appropriate when a leader is speaking or participating in an event sponsored and organized by the university, such as lectures, panel discussions and commencement exercises. This also applies to student government elections and officials.
