A conceptual and qualitative approach to chemistry, its evolution, achievements, and goals and its impact on technology, the environment, and modern life and thought. (Specifically designed for non-science majors.) Three lecture and three laboratory hours per week. FS: 02/05/2020. CL: 2020.

Notes:

The fundamental goal of chemistry is to describe the matter that makes up everything in the Universe and study its interaction with other matter and with energy. Chemistry has applications in every task in everyday life and is often referred to as the central science. Explaining how combustion engines are powered, looking for life on other planets, and developing new drugs to treat diseases are just a few examples of how chemistry impacts our daily lives.Honors Chemistry and Modern Society (CHEM 105) will explore the connections and impact chemistry has in our lives. Topics will be presented in theme-based units covering matter, chemical reactions, energy, climate change, acids and bases, nuclear chemistry, polymers and plastics, health and medicine, and forensic applications.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
