Methods of observation and experimentation in cognitive neuroscience. Two lectures and one three-hour laboratory per week. Prerequisite: PSYC 227 and C or better in two courses from PSYC 405, PSYC 450, PSYC 455, PSYC 460, or PSYC 507. Prerequisite or Corequisite: one course from PSYC 400, PSYC 405, PSYC 450, PSYC 455, or PSYC 460. FS: 12/04/2019. CL: 2020.

Notes:

This course will provide a survey of cognitive neuroscience theories and application. We will examine seven main cognitive processes, Cognition and the Autonomic Nervous System: Orienting, Anticipation, and Conditioning, Language, Emotion and Motivation, Interpersonal Communication, Sleep and Dreaming, and Deception. In addition to these themes, students will learn about the tools of neuroscience, and be given an opportunity to participate in an MRI study and an EEG study. *PSYC 507 & PSYC 571 must be taken concurrently.
