Notes:

We will study the theory, methodology and best practices of oral history, then practically apply what we’ve learned by doing our own fieldwork in the Columbia community, reaching Beyond the Classroom to build relationships and give service to others. This semester we are focusing on the 2020 elections: national, state and local, as experienced in South Carolina. There will be several guest speakers! Each student will interview someone and follow the whole process of “doing oral history” from preliminary research -- to interviewing and transcription -- to long-term preservation. Later in the semester, that interview will form the basis of your final project as you place it in the context of history.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
