Special topics in American literature exemplifying persistent themes of American culture. May be repeated for credit. Content varies by title and semester. Prerequisite: ENGL 101 and 102 or equivalent. FS: 11/04/2015. CL: 2020.
Notes:
A study of these American authors' shared themes and distinct preoccupations. With a focus on the Gothic and American Romanticism, the course focuses on the development of the antebellum short story, gender and sexuality, race and slavery, and horror aesthetics. Course requirements include two papers, a midterm, and a final.
