Notes:

After the Bible, Don Quixote is the most translated book of all times. We will discuss the issue of how a fundamentally comic book written at the end of the Renaissance has made possible our contemporary interpretations of Don Quixote regarding the nature of individual and collective ideals; materialistic as well as religious views; and the projection of both universal and national imaginaries. A close reading of a major selection of chapters from the book combines with a discussion of the themes and problems of a cultural icon of Spain’s national imagination that has become a world masterpiece. Pre-requisite: ENGL 102. No knowledge of Spanish is required.Required Reading: Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes.(translation)A selection of secondary readings.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
