This course is only available to students selected to participate in the South Carolina Washington Semester Program. The program is open to any UofSC student and all majors.This course is part of the South Carolina Washington Semester Program. Student selected for the program are enrolled in 9 internship credits hours working 40hrs per week in Washington, DC. Students also participate in a variety of enrichment activities designed to help them experience Washington, DC. Enrichment activities may include a Nationals Baseball Game, Inauguration, museum visits, performing arts events and meetings with important political and media leaders. Students are asked to reflect on enrichment activities through a series of seminars and blog entries.This internship will satisfy the Beyond the Classroom requirement for graduation from the South Carolina Honors College. Grades for this course will be determined by a mid-term and final evaluation completed by the student’s internship supervisor, and summary paper. The summary paper will be the student’s reflection on their personal and professional growth throughout the semester as a result of the internship; this will include specific challenges and accomplishments as well as an understanding of their optimal work style and environment.
