About the Institute
The Institute on Peer Leaders is a two-day, in-person professional development event designed for higher education professionals who recruit, train, supervise, develop, and support students in peer leadership roles, including peer leaders, peer mentors, peer educators, peer advisors, and student staff across campus. This institute will explore emerging trends, research, and practical strategies for developing, strengthening, and sustaining peer leadership programs that foster student connection, belonging, engagement, leadership development, and success.
Institute faculty will engage participants in exploring the essential elements of successful peer leadership programs and the ways institutions can intentionally prepare, develop, and support students in their peer leader roles.

- Methods of recruiting, selecting, and preparing peer leaders
- Designing effective peer leader training and development
- Engaging Peer Leaders in Leadership and Learning
- Supervising, supporting, and sustaining peer leaders
