National Survey of Senior Capstone Experiences

Since 1999, the National Resource Center has conducted the National Survey of Senior Capstone Experiences (NSSCE) in order to gain a more accurate view of senior capstones at four-year institutions - and later in community colleges - in American higher education

2016 National Survey of Senior Capstone Experiences

In Spring 2016, the National Resource Center undertook its third National Survey of Senior Capstone Experiences. Its purpose was to gather information about culminating experiences in the senior year in American higher education. A total of 3,867 institutions were invited to participate, and 383 responded to the survey.

2011 National Survey of Senior Capstone Experiences

In summer and fall of 2011, the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition conducted the 2011 National Survey of Senior Capstone Experiences. The purpose of the Survey was to gather information on senior capstone courses and culminating experiences. A total of 3,538 institutions received the invitations to participate and 276 completed the survey. Of these respondents, 268 four-year institutions offered a senior capstone experience.

1999 National Survey of Senior Seminars/Capstone Courses

In summer and early fall 1999, the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition conducted the first National Survey of Senior Seminars/Capstone Courses. The purpose of the survey was to gather information on the characteristics, course types, goals, and assessment of senior seminars/capstone courses. A total of 1,683 institutions were invited to participate in the survey. A total of 707 institutions responded to the survey.
