Bio

Background: My training includes a BS with Honors from Radford University (Chemistry and Biology), an MD from Virginia Commonwealth University, internship at the University of Maryland, neurology residency at the University of Iowa, and neurobehavior fellowship at UCLA. As Assistant Professor of Neurology at Wake Forest University, I completed a career development award (GCRC-CAP), gained subspecialty certifications in neurosonology and neuroimaging (MRI and CT), accumulated extensive experience in clinical and neuroimaging research, co-directed the stroke research fellowship, mentored graduate students and fellows, co-founded and co-directed the dementia and neurobehavior multidisciplinary subspecialty clinics, and held joint appointments in Physiology/Pharmacology and Psychiatry. After moving to Greenville, I started Absher Neurology, P.A. and the Alliance for Neuro Research, LLC. I maintained faculty appointments at USCSOM-Columbia, VCOM, and USCSOM-Greenville, until I formally joined the full-time faculty at USCSOM-Greenville, and was advised to drop my USCSOM-Columbia and VCOM appointments. Since then, I have been granted a Clemson faculty position in the Clemson University School of Health Research (CUSHR), and earned a position on the Clemson University School of Public Health Sciences as a member of the graduate faculty. I have been promoted to Associate Professor at the USCSOM-Greenville, and now seek promotion to the rank of Professor.
