Commencement

The USC School of Medicine Greenville Commencement event is a combined ceremony for both the Greenville and Columbia medical schools with official conferral of degrees and recitation of the Hippocratic Oath.

About the Ceremony

The commencement ceremony for both schools of medicine is held in the Koger Center at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. A dignified, formal and somewhat intimate ceremony, commencement features remarks by both deans and the president of the university as well as guest speakers.

Each graduate is recognized by name and walks across the stage to accept congratulations from the dean and president. All graduating medical students recite an oath and vow to uphold the highest ideals of their new profession.

The University of South Carolina registrar provides more information on the process for graduation as well as commencement ceremony details and traditions for students, faculty, family and visitors.
