Counseling Services

Sometimes you just need someone to talk to. The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville provides students access to counseling and psychiatric services.

Service Providers

Counseling services will be provided by Prisma Health’s enhanced Employee Assistance Program (EAP) now powered by LifeWorks.

EAP’s LifeWorks program can provide you with immediate and confidential help for any school, health, or life-related concern. With a website, personalized news feed and digital app, EAP’s LifeWorks platform can help with stress, anxiety, family needs and much more -24/7. EAP is located at 1020 Grove Road and can be reached toll-free at 877-761-3614. EAP is staffed by licensed counselors who take no part in medical education.

Psychiatric Care

Psychiatric care is available to School of Medicine Greenville students through Prisma Health-Upstate Outpatient Psychiatry. A psychiatrist who is not involved in medical student teaching is available to see students in the EAP offices on a regular basis.

Julian "Jules" Green is a licensed therapist who loves to teach individuals how to heal from stress, trauma, and disruptive patterns which keep them stuck.

In 2018 Jules created Hope Healing Happiness Life Solutions, a private practice in Greenville, South Carolina which offers in-person and virtual holistic psychotherapy services.

Jules facilitates therapy from a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive perspective which incorporates an eclectic approach including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), somatic experiencing (body-based interventions) and EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing).

Jules works with individuals and families experiencing with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, family discord, imposter syndrome, trauma/PTSD, racial and gender discrimination, relationships challenges, and life transitions.

In addition to student directly reaching out to Jules at the number below, any member of the Office of Student Affairs, the Office of Student Achievement and Strategic Success, your success coach or career counselor can facilitate a referral to Jules.
