Abstract

In 2023, the Journal of the First-Year Experience & Students in Transition established a new section of the Journal, called Keynote. Parallel to the ways in which conferences enlist keynote speakers to offer big-picture knowledge and draw participants to other facets of the conference, the new Keynote section of the Journal features a keynote writer to inform scholars and practitioners and to draw readers to other articles in the Journal. Keynote articles are invited manuscripts from leaders in higher education and student affairs. These authors will be scholars you recognize, and will write these articles specifically to you–our readers of the Journal. The intent is to complement the cutting edge, peer-reviewed scholarship of the Journal with an opportunity to reflect on big topics in our field. We are excited to have Dr. Linda Sax, Professor in the School of Education and Information Studies and Founding Director of Momentum: Accelerating Equity in Computing and Technology at UCLA, serve as the 2025 Keynote author.
