First-to-second semester persistence: A case study

Author(s): Somers, P.

Citation: Somers, P. (1995). First-to-second semester persistence: A case study. Journal of The Freshman Year Experience, 7(2), 43-62.

The author examines the persistence of 2,100 first-year students at a public, west-coast university. The study showed that college experience variables (i.e., grade point, attendance) had an impact on persistence, while financial aid did not.
