School of Medicine Greenville

Community health clinic to provide health and vision services

A free community health clinic will be held Feb. 15 and Feb. 16 at the USC School of Medicine Greenville. The clinic is a student organized event to help provide health care to those who are in need of health care services. Medical and vision services, as well as Women’s Health and Pediatrics will be offered.

The clinic is a collaboration — run by Remote Area Medical (RAM)®, a Knoxville, Tennessee-based nonprofit that provides free, quality healthcare to those in need, and organized by a volunteer team of medical students at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville (SOMG).

This is a free clinic that provides healthcare during a two-day period run entirely by volunteers. SOMG has several medical students, nursing students, nurses, and clinicians who will be volunteering their time to make this a success. During last year’s event, held at Greer High School, more than 200 people attended and received medical services, completely free of charge.

Student led-community wellness initiatives are one of the top priorities from the school’s Office of Dean Phyllis MacGilvray.

Community wellness and student learning is a part of what makes SOMG what it is and is a tenet of the school’s new mission statement:

Educate. Innovate. Serve
Where Lifestyle is Medicine
