We would like to congratulate Bailey Blair, a third-year medical student here at the
UofSC School of Medicine Greenville, for being a first author on a recently published
research paper. Her study explored increased circulating levels of galectin proteins
in patients with breast, colon, and lung cancer. This study resulted in exciting findings
that will be useful to future patients.
When we asked Bailey if she had any advice for her peers wanting to publish research,
she said, “have a group of people that are willing and committed to working together-
it took a lot of people to get this done! I know it may be overwhelming, but get started
early because there are lots of different drafts and revisions to be done. Having
a great advisor that is willing to help is also very important.”
Blair also shared it is important to pick a research topic you are passionate about.
Bailey’s family history of cancer made her research especially meaningful and made
the process feel like easy work!
We are so proud of you, Bailey!
