Medical students offer healthy meals and coaching via Greenville Free Clinic

Medical students at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville have volunteered at the Greenville Free Clinic for several years now. Recently though, due to an idea sparked by second-year student Hallie Weems, groups of students have started partnering with individual families to provide healthy meals and advice for effective lifestyle changes.

UofSC School of Medicine Greenville hosts seventh annual emergency preparedness exercise

The University of South Carolina (USC) School of Medicine Greenville conducted its seventh annual disaster preparedness drill on August 24 in partnership with Greenville Health System (GHS), local law enforcement, fire departments and emergency medical services (EMS). This year’s event featured new challenges for the participants as well as new partners, including Greenville and Oconee County first responders, nursing students from Clemson University and Greenville Technical College and undergraduate pre-health students from USC and Clemson University.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 27, 2018)--I've been contributing to this blog for a few years now, and every entry seems to eventually come around to this one idea: how much I love being a medical student and how much deeper that feeling is each time I reflect upon it. My class's 3rd year of medical school started in May 2017. In that month alone, I saw more patients than I had ever seen before, at least ten-fold. As suggested by an upperclassman, I kept a shorthand diary on patients who struck me academically, emotionally, or humorously. The joy of first learning inevitably fades with time, and this diary is my reminder.

Class of 2018 celebrates 100% match rate

GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 16, 2018)--The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville's senior class celebrated a 100 percent match rate during the school's annual Match Day ceremony; the national placement average after the first round is 94%. The Class of 2018's residency placements include an array of specialty programs, such as orthopaedic surgery, radiology, plastic surgery and neurology.

Medical students chosen for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's first Greenville's Finest cohort

GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 9, 2018)--Third-year medical student Katy Dumas, and fourth-year medical students Raquel Denis and Cody Hill were recently selected to be members of first cohort of Greenville's Finest, hosted by the South Carolina Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation. Ms. Dumas, Mr. Hill and Ms. Denis were chosen for their community contributions and philanthropy, as well as their career path successes.
