Bio

Background: Ann Blair Kennedy joined the faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor in May of 2017 in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. She leads the Health Systems Science longitudinal curriculum and also teaches Epidemiology/Biostatistics/Evidence-Based Medicine sessions.

Her undergraduate degree is from Presbyterian College and her Masters is from University of South Carolina, both in Theater/Directing. She became a board certified and state licensed massage therapist in 1999 and was in clinical practice prior to pursuing her Doctor of Public Health degree in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior from the University of South Carolina. She completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Human Performance Lab at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville in April 2017. Dr. Kennedy completed her Apple Teacher training in May of 2018 and became an Apple Learning Academy Specialist in July of 2019.
Teaching Interest(s): Health Systems Science topics including: Public Health; communication; cultural humility; stress management; integrative medicined; qualitative and mixed research methods; evidence based medicine
Research Interest(s): •Patient and stakeholder engagement in research
•Investigations of health care professions and healthcare professionals especially in the areas of stress, burnout, communication, and cultural competence/humility/safety
•Lifestyle medicine under the pillars of stress management, social connection, and substance use modification/elimination
