Bio

Background: Dr. Annett earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and then completed two residencies in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in Greenville, SC. After several years in practice, he returned to Greenville to complete a sports medicine fellowship at Greenville Health System and the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas.

Dr. Annett is currently employed clinically with the Department of Orthopedics and the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas at their Hillcrest location. He is currently Team Physician for Hillcrest High School as well as the Greenville FC soccer team, who plays in the NPSL. He has been medical director for numerous endurance events including the Mountains to Main Triathlon the last several years. He volunteers monthly at the Greer Free Clinic in both Internal Medicine and Orthopedics. He has authored a textbook chapter on “Gender Differences- Considerations for the Female Endurance Athlete” in Miller’s Endurance Sports Medicine 2016. Current research interests include utilization of sports US by PCSM providers and injury prevention for endurance athletes.

Dr. Annett is the Program Director for the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship with Prisma Health and the University of South Carolina Greenville. He had served as Associate Program Director in 2017. He is excited about the opportunity to continue to grow the program and serve as a primary clinical educator for the primary care sports fellows.
Teaching Interest(s): His clinical interests include interventional Sports Ultrasound, exertional leg pain and compartment testing, soccer injuries, as well as orthobiologics.
Research Interest(s): Current research grants include utilization of US Elastography to assess changes in muscle in myofascial pain.
