Bio
| Background: | Dr. Schwerin completed undergraduate degrees from the University of South Carolina in biology and sports medicine and the Medical University of South Carolina in nursing. He is a graduate of Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine. He completed a surgical internship at the Medical University of South Carolina and a residency in Emergency Medicine at Mercy Health St Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, OH where he was the academic chief resident. He then completed an EMS and Disaster Medicine fellowship at Mercy Health St Vincent Medical Center. He is dual boarded in emergency medicine and emergency medical services. After completing his training, he remained at Mercy Health St Vincent as a core faculty member and worked with several other physicians to create the Northwest Ohio EMS Consortium that brought together over 60 EMS and fire agencies under a core medical director group. He worked with multiple centers of higher education to train prehospital providers. Dr Schwerin was also the principle medical director for Mercy Health Life Flight / Mobile Life critical care transport service and a member of the state of Ohio division of EMS medical oversight committee. He completed the ACEP Teaching Fellowship and the Ohio ACEP Leadership Development Academy. After 9 years of being away from South Carolina and the opportunity to work with a new EM residency program brought him to the Greenville Health System. |
