Bio

Background: Dr. Pace has practiced orthopaedic surgery and biomaterials outcomes research in Greenville, South Carolina as a fellowship trained board certified hip and knee replacement specialist since 1993. He currently serves as the chief of Clinical Sciences division and Integrated Practice of Medicine (IPM) module director. IPM focuses on teaching medical students the fundamentals of effectively communicating with patients, examining patients and learning to develop their diagnostics and procedural skills as well as the behavioral, social, ethical and public health aspects of medicine in the first two years of medical school at USCSOMG.
Teaching Interest(s): Primary orthopedic clinical practice interest in clinical, basic science and biomechanical aspects of orthopaedic joint replacement surgery. Academic and educational interests are patient centered care outcomes assessment and the application of innovative techniques in student centered learning in medical education.
Research Interest(s): Research interest: *Curriculum design and implementation *Comparative learning outcomes strategies for accelerated medical school clinical experience in the early years. *Reduction in infection rates in orthopaedic surgery using newer digital optical scanning technology *Effects of metal ions used in orthopaedic hip and knee arthroplasty on surrounding and remote tissue
