Background

Dr. Sturm comes to the University of South Carolina with over ten years of experience in higher education in areas such as career services, student retention, program development, and statewide program and grant management. She holds an A.S. in Public Service specializing in Criminal Justice Technology from Horry-Georgetown Technical College, a B.S. in Psychology from Coastal Carolina University, a M.S. in Psychology specializing in School Psychology from Capella University, and received a certification of graduate study in Higher Education Leadership from the University of South Carolina. She also earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education from Clemson University.

Her research interests include the student voice, student perception of learning environments, student retention, student diversity, and the first year student experience.
