Bio
Background: | Dr. Lommel is currently the Behavioral Health Chief Medical Officer, Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and previous Division Chief of Emergency Psychiatry in the Department of Emergency Medicine within Prisma Health-Upstate and USC School of Medicine Greenville. Dr. Lommel completed a dual-degree program to receive her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Mater of Healthcare Administration in 2000. Dr. Lommel then completed a combined residency training program in pediatrics, adult psychiatry, and child/adolescent psychiatry at the University of Kentucky in 2005. She practiced as a child psychiatrist embedded within the children’s hospital and the trauma program for 8 years. During her career at UK she received NIH funding and conducted sponsored research while completing an M.S. degree in Clinical and Translational Science. After achieving promotion and tenure to associate professor, she returned to complete another residency training program in Emergency Medicine. She currently practices as an emergency physician as well as an adult and child/adolescent psychiatrist. |
