Dr. Cary Stroud grew up in Chesterfield, South Carolina. He graduated from Furman University in 1965 and Bowman Gray (now Wake Forest) School of Medicine in 1969. He completed Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Wake Forest
In September of 1973, Dr. Stroud joined the Christie Pediatric Group doing part time Hematology/Oncology and part time general pediatrics.
Along with Dr. James Hayes, he founded the BI-LO Charities Children’s Cancer Center of the Greenville Hospital System in 1986 and served as medical director until February of 2012.
Now Dr. Stroud is establishing a Pediatric Palliative Care Service for Children’s Hospital of Greenville and started seeing palliative care patients in October of 2013.
Dr. Stroud is married to Donna R. Stroud, MD and has two grown children and a one year old granddaughter.
