The Fall Forum will feature two different presentation formats: (a) research posters and (b) academic panel presentations.

• The academic panel presentations are designed to provide students finishing their thesis this semester an opportunity for a public thesis defense. Hour-long panel sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with three students participating on each panel.
• Research poster sessions are open to students who have completed independent projects and will be presented from 10-11 a.m. and from 1-2 p.m.

The Fall Forum is an opportunity to present your research to a public audience and network with peers and faculty. Your participation and your presentation title may be highlighted on the Honors College website, social media channels and promotional materials.

To have the Fall Forum presentation satisfy the defense requirement, the following conditions must be met:

• You must apply and be accepted for an academic panel session. Presenting a poster will not fulfill the thesis defense requirement.
• You must have permission from your thesis director.
• Both the thesis director and second reader MUST attend the Fall Forum presentation.
• Participation in a follow-up meeting with the thesis director and second reader after the panel presentation to privately discuss thesis paper and committee feedback is required. Students will have the opportunity to sign up to use meeting space in the Honors Residence Hall on the day of the Fall Forum for this purpose.

You will receive notification of your acceptance and presentation time on or before October 16. Not all proposals will be accepted for presentation.

The Fall Forum is a free, non-ticketed event. All friends, family and colleagues are welcome to attend the poster session. We hope you will invite as many guests to hear your presentation as you wish, though seating at an academic panel presentation may be limited.

Funding applications for poster printing will be available after presentation decisions have been sent. USC Printing Services will facilitate all printing.

Only posters for research or creative projects will be subsidized. Posters required for class projects will not be eligible.

Note: Students participating in an academic panel typically create slide decks. We will provide access to a computer and video projector. Posters are not appropriate for the academic panel presentation.

• To fully utilize your allotted space, the recommended size is 4 ft wide by 3.5 ft tall (this is the size typically used for research posters)
• The maximum allowable size is 4 ft by 4 ft (the outer vertical edge will curl around the display board if the poster is four feet wide)
• The minimum size is 2 ft by 3 ft (oriented vertically or horizontally)
