Abstract

As transfer students matriculate to campuses many resources can be implemented to help them through the transition and make academic connections. Appalachian State University utilizes a Faculty Transfer Mentor program as one strategy to address the issue of academic integration. Over 100 faculty and staff mentors have volunteered their time and been trained in the last three years to help transfer students develop supportive academic relationships. This article will provide details of our Faculty Transfer Mentor program, explain how we recruit and train mentors, and describe ways the mentors engage with transfer students.
