Citation: Franklin, K. K. (2000). Shared and connected learning in a freshman learning community. Journal of The First-Year Experience & Students in Transition, 12(2), 33-60.

Abstract

The author asserts that the opportunity for students to participate in connected and shared learning is in jeopardy due to increasing life role complexity. First-year students participating in a learning community at one metropolitan university reported an understanding of and appreciation for connected and shared learning. The author concludes that shared learning is a pivotal antecedent to connected learning.
