Housing Application

The housing application for continuing students is open! Complete the housing application at my.sc.edu via the housing portal.  This process is highly competitive and space is limited.

Step 2 - Express Interest In A Community

Learning Communities

Students wishing to live on-campus have the unique opportunity to be a part of our Living and Learning Community program.  These immersive faculty led programs afford students the ability to live and learn with like minded students.  Application into a Learning Community is optional and students are selected based off of their application to the community.

Step 3 - Housing Building/Community Assignment

Building & Community Assignment

You will select your residence hall and room for Fall 2023 starting on November 15, 2022.  Consideration for buildings and communities is based on supplemental application and availability.   Roommate matching opens once you have been notified that you have secured a location in University Housing.

Step 3 - Room Selection

Real-Time Room Selection

Students who are selected and complete the Housing application will then have the opportunity to choose their building and room during a designated selection date and time. This information will be available in the housing portal once your building assignment is posted. These dates and times vary by building and community. (November 15)

Step 4 - Move-in Day

Getting Your Preferred Roommate

You can request up to 3 roommates. You and your roommate must request each other, select the same community and complete the housing interest form by the deadline.

Find a Roommate

Find a roommate match through University Housing Roommate Matching. The link to roommate matching is available on Self Service Carolina.

You'll complete a brief questionnaire, then browse through profiles listed by other students. The matching is up to you! University Housing does not look through profiles to match students with similar interests.

Learning Communities Assignments

Each learning community you request will review your housing interest form. We consider several factors to determine if you will be a good fit:

  • Involvement in the community in previous years.
  • Willingness to act as a mentor for first year students in the community.
  • Residence hall or building type preference.
  • Standing at USC.

Check Your Assignment

After room assignments are made, you can check yours on Self Service Carolina. You'll receive an email when assignments are ready.

The assignment will include your residence hall, room number and roommates or suitemates.

Contacting Your Roommate
You can send your roommate a message through VIP or email them at their university email address, provided with your assignment.
