The Biological Safety Manual has been established primarily as a guide to promote safe laboratory work involving biological materials that pose hazards to personnel. The information in this manual is based on federal and state regulations and guidelines, and University policies and procedures. The Biological Safety Manual is intended to be used as a supplement to guidance provided by the Principal Investigator or laboratory supervisor on safe work practices and precautions to prevent exposures. Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratories must have a laboratory-specific biosafety manual that is available and accessible.
