Advanced Authentication Methods to be Introduced

As part of our ongoing efforts to combat malicious access to university accounts, the IT Security Office has adopted new Verified Duo Push standards to fight "push harassment."

New Email Security Features to be Enabled in Summer 2022

Beginning in Summer 2022, the University of South Carolina will enable several features in the Microsoft Security Protection Suite to protect students, faculty, and staff from malicious email messages or attachments that could compromise their accounts and university assets. Multifactor Authentication Required Beginning June 5, 2017

Beginning June 5, 2017, multifactor authentication (MFA), also known as two-step verification, will be required to access systems on the USC network that store Personally Identifiable Information (PII). MFA will require students, faculty, and staff to take an extra step each time they login to university systems that store PII including my.sc.edu, Banner, PeopleSoft, VIP, and more.

Important Security Announcement - Dec 1st Security Deadline Spirion (formerly Identity Finder) and FireEye HX are two software clients required by the University’s Minimum Security Standards.  Organizational units are required to install these clients on or before December 1, 2017.

YubiKey Self Registration Now Available for Duo Multifactor

December 16, 2015 - Users who utilize Duo Multifactor to authenticate into university IT systems can now self-register YubiKey devices in my.sc.edu without the need for a service ticket.  This change expedites the registration process for users and system administrators across the state.
