Palmetto College: 10 years of educating South Carolinians

For the past decade, Palmetto College has served students and communities from the Upstate to the Lowcountry.

Today, through its two-year regional campuses as well as online and onsite bachelor’s programs in partnership with USC four-year institutions, Palmetto College continues to help South Carolinians attain degrees where they live and work.

What’s new: Since its inception in 2013, Palmetto College has grown from seven to 11 locations, more than tripled the number of degree programs offered and launched a statewide network of iCarolina Labs.

Statewide impact: With 11 locations across South Carolina, Palmetto College allows individuals to earn their first two years of college credit at a Palmetto College campus, then transfer to a four-year campus or complete their bachelor's degree online. Locations include USC Lancaster, USC Lancaster (Indian Land), USC Salkehatchie (Allendale), USC Salkehatchie (Walterboro), USC Sumter, USC Union, USC Union (Laurens), USC Fort Jackson, Shaw Air Force Base, Palmetto College Columbia and Palmetto College Columbia (Lexington).

Degree programs: In addition to 26 online bachelor’s degree completion programs, Palmetto College also offers 100% online Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees through its campuses. Popular online programs include business administration, nursing, organizational leadership, liberal studies and criminal justice.

Pathway programs: Palmetto College students can take advantage of all the resources of the University of South Carolina system. Residential bridge programs include Palmetto Pathway, Pacer Pathway and Sand Shark Scholars. These pathways allow students a seamless transition from a two-year Palmetto College campus to one of three four-year institutions in the USC system – USC Columbia, USC Aiken and USC Beaufort.

iCarolina Labs: Launched in 2022, Palmetto College iCarolina Labs provide internet access, technology, and software and coding training to community members and students across the Palmetto State. To date, eight labs have opened in the Allendale, Clinton, Kershaw, Lancaster, Laurens, Sumter, Walterboro and Union communities.
