University Signature Events

The University of South Carolina is a place of near-constant activity. Beginning with your move-in week and culminating with commencement, the university hosts a broad spectrum of experiences that inform, educate and entertain the members of the Carolina community.

UofSC Welcome

Before you hit the books, we want you to become familiar with the campus resources available to you and all of the ways that you can get involved. Welcome Week introduces you to the people, organizations and services that will make your college experience more engaging and purposeful.

New students and their families are invited to join President Robert L. Caslen Jr. for a ceremony that commemorates your transition as a new member of the Carolina family. The reception that follows is a great way to meet the president, university administrators and fellow students.

Homecoming is a special time that unifies alumni and current students. There are a variety of ways to get involved during this fun week of events, including the annual Homecoming Cup competition and the selection of our king and queen through the Homecoming Showcase.

MLK Celebration

For more than 30 years, we have honored the life of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. The university celebrates his achievements and community focus with a wide-ranging week of activities, including a commemorative breakfast, a day of service, a food drive and presentation of the university’s Social Justice Awards.
