Highlights from 2015 Spring Commencement

The head coach of the Gamecock women's basketball team advised the Class of 2015 to find the passion within themselves.
"You have to have a belief in self far greater than anyone else's disbelief," coach Dawn Staley said during the Spring 2015 graduation ceremonies at the University of South Carolina.
Also during the ceremony, the chancellor of USC Beaufort, Jane T. Upshaw received the honorary degree of doctor of education. Upshaw is retiring this year after leading the senior campus for the past 16 years.

U.S. Sen. Tim Scott told the class of 2015 to persevere in life. "Failure is not final if you refuse to quit," he said during the 2015 Saturday morning commencement address.
The senator received an honorary degree of doctor of public service. During his speech, Scott announced that his political papers will become part of the South Carolina Political Collections at UofSC.

S.C. Gov. Nikki R. Haley told the class of 2015 to trust their gut to do the right thing. "It will serve you well," she said during the 2015 commencement address.
The governor received an honorary degree of doctor of public service. Also at the ceremony, William "Bill" Putnam, a retired faculty member and associate dean of the Moore School of Business received an honorary degree of doctor of education.
