Health and Wellness Expo scheduled for Sept. 24

USC's annual benefits fair will be held this month at the Russell House



The University of South Carolina’s My Carolina Health and Wellness Expo is scheduled for Sept. 24 at the Russell House to help employees get ready for open enrollment in October. The Division of Human Resources is encouraging all employees to come to the event and "Catch the Wellness Wave 2.0."

The expo will help faculty and staff — new and old — take full advantage of their benefits at USC by providing information and offering onsite services.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. and will run until 2 p.m. with different activities throughout the day as well as over 40 vendors and providers both in and around the Russell House.

Services offered at the expo will include:

  • Benefits counselors to assist employees with insurance enrollments and changes. Information on insurance options can also be found on the PEBA website.
  • A complimentary preventative health screening for State Health Plan BCBSSC participants, valued at $300,  provided by Mackey Family Practice. Register online by Sept. 19 at the Mackey Family Practice's website and use company code 1213.
  • Hearing tests provided by USC’s Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic.
  • Optical services and mammograms offered by Prisma Health. To register for a mammogram, call 803-434-9100 and bring your insurance card and picture ID.
  • Flu Shots provided by USC Health Services.
  • Free massage samples and hand facials will be available from Massage Envy.
  • Body composition analysis by Campus Recreation, which will also demontrate how to use outdoor recreation equipment.

Some of this year's confirmed vendors include:

  • USC’s ticket office, which will provide information on employee tickets and discounts on season tickets for athletic events.
  • Bright Horizons, which partners with USC to provide childcare.
  • Employee Well-Being, which will have information on programs and resources for faculty and staff to help employees live healthier lives mentally and physically.
  • Other on-campus vendors: Parking and Transportation, Staff Ombuds, USC Press, Staff Senate, USCPD, Postal Services, Veteran's Services, Organizational and Professional Development. 
  • Retirement, health and life insurance companies: The Standard, PEBA Analytics and Health Initiatives, MetLife, Blue Cross Blue Shield, ASI Flex, Empower Retirement, Hub International, Trustmark, Colonial Life and Travelers.
  • Financial institutions: Accumulus, CARO Federal Credit Union, Central Bank, Corebridge Financial, TIAA, Future Scholar, Voya and Fidelity.
  • Health and wellness resources: Express Scripts, Eye Med, MYGroup, Palmetto Imaging and PRISMA Health.
  • Other vendors:  SAVI, which provides assistance and planning to help pay off student loans, and Sam's Club, which will have a special membership offer for employees available. 

The event will also offer:

  • Free, 30-minute breakout sessions hosted by different vendors at beginning at 9 a.m. If you are interested in attending a session, please complete the two-question survey by Sept. 19 for handout and seating purposes. You are not required to register to attend a session.
  • The Cocky Wellness Walk at 11:30 a.m., where faculty and staff can take a guided stroll around USC's Horseshoe to burn a few calories and take in the views on campus with USC's beloved mascot Cocky. University Historian Evan Faulkenbury will lead the tour giving the history of the Horseshoe and the buildings around campus. 
  • A clothing and food drive to benefit USC's CommUnity Shop
