On Sept. 1, traveling around the University of South Carolina’s campus will look different, as the university and COMET join forces to provide campus transit.
Campus community members will have to make one change. Carolina Cards will be required to ride the COMET starting Tuesday. That includes all daytime routes and two evening routes, covering from 7 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. each weekday.
The new partnership will provide an upgraded experience for the campus community, as new COMET-styled buses will run the normal routes around campus on the same schedule as before, all at no cost to the riders. Soon, new signage and shelters will land on campus featuring both COMET and UofSC signs.
The university’s Parking and Transportation Services will still run the on-call and late-night shuttles on campus on the weekdays.
