As Columbia recovers from major flooding, UofSC will continue to offer essential services, academic support and a number of events, activities and volunteer opportunities.

 

Friday (Oct. 16)

Water distribution

  • Russell House - 8 a.m. - midnight, 3 bottles per person, per day. Carolina Card required.
  • Off-campus water distribution and other resources

Food service

  • Bates Diner - 7:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Chick-fil-A - 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Einstein Bros. Bagels East - 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Health & wellness
All Student Health Services and Campus Recreation offices are operating normal hours.

  • Thomson Student Health Center - 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Counseling center - 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Strom Thurmond Wellness & Fitness Center - 6 a.m. - midnight
  • Solomon Blatt Physical Education Center - 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Mail

  • Student Mail Center in Russell House – 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Volunteer opportunities

  • The Leadership and Service Center and student groups have organized multiple opportunities to help the community.

Events

  • Homecoming: 'There's No Place Like Carolina' Celebration - 4 - 5 :30 p.m., Greene Street in front of the Russell House. The event will showcase the university community and feature food and drinks, giveaways, community speakers, recognition of local first responders and UofSC volunteers who have helped with the recent flood relief efforts and a display of banners, photos, float displays and more from the Homecoming week. 
  • SportsCenter on the Road - 4 - 5 p.m., Greene Street in front of the Russell House. ESPN's SportsCenter will air a live segment from the "There's No Place Like Carolina Celebration" between 4 and 5 p.m. Wear garnet and be prepared to show your Gamecock spirit.

 

Saturday (Oct. 17)

Events

  • SportsCenter on the Road - 7 - 9 a.m., Horseshoe. ESPN will broadcast live from the historic Horseshoe for the fourth time in six years when SportsCenter on the Road visits for a live show. Carolina students, alumni and fans should wear garnet and bring a white rally towel, if you have one. Start arriving at the Horseshoe at 5:45 a.m. and be in place by 6:30 a.m. Please note that overnight camping on the Horseshoe will not be permitted. Parking is available in the Pendleton Street Parking Garage and at meters around campus. Portable restrooms are available in the parking lots behind Harper-Elliott and Pinckney-Legare and in front of the Russell House.
  • UofSC v. Vanderbilt - 4 p.m. The Gamecocks will face off against the Vanderbilt Commodores in this Homecoming matchup airing on the SEC Network.
