The presidents of 12 University of South Carolina student organizations recently denounced online incivility, particularly the offensive anonymous comments that flourish on some social networks.

In an open letter to the UofSC community, student leaders said anonymous commenting enables “people to lose integrity, promote bigotry and disrespect the rights and properties of others.” The letter encourages students to consider the Carolinian Creed and use social media in ways that honor the creed’s tenets.
