Mechanical Prototype Facility

Obtain fabrication and design services for your research from experienced machinists in our prototype facility.

Research Services

If you are a researcher in the College of Arts and Sciences and need machining, welding, or fabricating services, please consider our Mechanical Prototype Facility (MPF).  Our facility also provides mechanical design assistance, detailing, and CAD drawings as needed.

MPF is equipped with lathes, CNC milling machines, M.I.G. & T.I.G. welders, and other metal and wood working tools. We can machine parts and construct assemblies from metals, plastics, some ceramics, and wood. We also work regularly with local vendors and will coordinate outsourcing of work when necessary. The shop’s machinists have experience, primarily in research environments.
