Come help us welcome our USC students

July 17, 2024

Dear USC staff and faculty members,

The summer months offer a welcome time for rest and rejuvenation, and I hope you are enjoying some opportunities to recharge your batteries. While campus activity may slow a bit during June and July, university life never stops, and we are already preparing for the start of a new academic year. We are only four weeks away from welcoming back our students, including the incoming Class of 2028.

One of the many reasons USC excels at creating a great college experience for its students is the welcoming environment they find across our campus community. I want to invite you to be among the volunteers who give our students a warm greeting during their first days as Gamecocks this fall.

Move-in days are August 12, 17 and 18, 2024. Please consider signing up for a shift as a greeter who welcomes students and families as they arrive to move into residence halls; as a mover who helps unload vehicles and carries items into student rooms; or as a zone leader who directs the volunteers assigned to a designated area.

As a move-in volunteer, you will help us make a great first impression on our Carolina students and their families, and you’ll receive a T-shirt and a
meal card in exchange for your efforts.

And if you aren’t available to help with move-in days, there are more opportunities ahead! Student Affairs will also appreciate your help as volunteers at First Night Carolina on August 19, as Gamecock Greeters during the first two days of classes August 20-21, or during Family Weekend September 19-21.

You play an essential role in building the welcoming culture that makes USC special and ensures our students find success at Carolina. I hope you will consider finding time to volunteer for one or more of these opportunities.

Thank you!
